This serial real-time clock is a low-power, full BCD clock/calendar chip with 56 bytes of non-volatile SRAM. Address and data are transferred serially via a two-wire bidirectional bus. The clock/calendar provides seconds, minutes, hours, day, date, month, and year information. End-of-month date is automatically adjusted for months with fewer than 31 days, including leap year correction. The clock operates in either 24-hour or 12-hour format with AM/PM indication. An integrated power-sense circuit detects power failure and automatically switches to battery backup.
