Overview
The FRTC1338S serial real-time clock is a low-power, full binary-coded decimal clock/calendar with an integrated 56-byte nonvolatile SRAM. Address and data are transferred serially via the I²C interface. The clock/calendar provides seconds, minutes, hours, day, date, month, and year information. End-of-month dates are automatically adjusted for months with fewer than 31 days, including leap year correction. The clock supports 24-hour or 12-hour operation with an AM/PM indicator. The FRTC1338S incorporates a power-sense circuit that detects power failures and automatically switches to battery backup.
