Overview
The 74HC595 is a high-speed silicon-gate CMOS device with pin compatibility with low-power Schottky TTL. The device contains an 8-bit shift register and an 8-bit D-type latch with 3-state parallel outputs. The shift register accepts serial data and provides serial or parallel outputs. The shift register also provides parallel data to the 8-bit latch. The shift register and latch have separate clock inputs. In addition, the device includes an asynchronous reset for the shift register.
