Overview

The HD32xxE series are interface ICs powered by 3V supply, compliant with EIA/TIA-232 and CCITT V.28/V.24 communication requirements and meeting low-power specifications. They integrate two drivers, two receivers, and a dedicated switched-capacitor voltage converter. The HD3220 features one driver and one receiver. These devices operate from a 3V to 5.5V supply with a guaranteed data rate of 250kbit/s. ESD protection on all RS-232 I/O pins exceeds ±15kV air discharge and ±8kV contact discharge per EN61000-4-2. The HD3221E and HD3223E feature the proprietary XPWRSAVE (patented) function, which automatically shuts down the internal voltage converter and driver circuitry when the RS-232 cable is disconnected from the host interface or the connected peripheral device is powered off.
