HMAX485ESA

HMAX485ESA is a half-duplex differential transceiver operating at 3V to 5.5V with ±15kV ESD protection, providing full RS485 compatibility for half-duplex applications. Each section contains one driver and one receiver, designed for data transmission over an extended common-mode voltage range of -7V to +12V. It supports data transmission at rates up to 10Mbps. The driver features short-circuit current limiting and is protected by a thermal shutdown circuit that places the driver outputs in a high-impedance state to prevent excessive power dissipation. The receiver inputs include a failsafe feature that guarantees a logic-high output when the inputs are open-circuited, short-circuited, or when the driver is disabled but not driving. Both components support power-up/power-down modes with glitch-free driver outputs, allowing the transceiver to be inserted into or removed from the bus in real time. The CMOS design delivers significant power savings without compromising overload or ESD protection. Typical quiescent current is only 300µA in active mode and 1µA in shutdown mode.
