Overview
HR8825 is a stepper motor driver with an integrated translator, designed for use in printers, scanners, and other automated equipment. It can drive bipolar stepper motors in full, half, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, and 1/32 step modes. The step mode is selected via the logic input pins MODEx. The output drive capability reaches 32V ± 2.5A. The translator is the key to the ease of use of the HR8825. A single pulse input to the STEP pin advances the motor one step, eliminating the need for a phase sequence table, high-frequency control lines, and complex programming interfaces, making it well-suited for applications without a complex microprocessor or where the microprocessor is heavily loaded. An internal synchronous rectification control circuit improves power dissipation during PWM operation. Internal protection features include: over-temperature protection, undervoltage lockout, and overcurrent protection. No special power-up sequencing is required. The HR8825 is offered in an ETSSOP28 package with an exposed pad for improved thermal dissipation. It is a lead-free product that complies with environmental standards.
