Overview
HT485E is a low-power transceiver for RS-485 and RS-422 communications. The IC contains one driver and one receiver. The MAX485 driver slew rate is not limited, allowing data transmission at up to 2.5Mbps. These transceivers consume 120μA to 500μA of supply current when unloaded or fully loaded with the driver disabled. All devices operate from a single 5V supply. The driver features short-circuit current limiting and is protected against excessive power dissipation by a thermal shutdown circuit that places the driver outputs in a high-impedance state. The receiver inputs feature a failsafe design that guarantees a logic-high output if the inputs are open-circuited. The HT485E is designed for half-duplex applications.
