The HX65HVD3080E–HX65HVD3088E are +5.0V powered RS-485/RS-422 transceivers with ±16kV ESD protection. They feature a failsafe circuit that forces the receiver output to a logic high when the receiver inputs are open or shorted, or when all transmitters connected to a terminated bus are disabled. The entire product family supports hot-plug capability, eliminating bus fault transients during power-up or hot insertion. The HX65HVD3080E–HX65HVD3088E drivers deliver an extra-large output voltage swing (exceeding 2.1V into a 54Ω load), ensuring greater noise margin. The HX65HVD3080E–HX65HVD3085E feature a slew-rate-limited driver that reduces EMI and reflections caused by improperly terminated cables, enabling error-free data transmission at up to 500kbps. The HX65HVD3086E/HX65HVD3087E/HX65HVD3088E drivers have no slew rate limitation, supporting data rates up to 16Mbps. The HX65HVD3082E/HX65HVD3085E/HX65HVD3088E are designed for half-duplex communication; the HX65HVD3080E/HX65HVD3081E/HX65HVD3083E/HX65HVD3084E/HX65HVD3086E/HX65HVD3087E are designed for full-duplex communication. All devices feature 1/8 unit load receiver input impedance, allowing up to 256 transceivers on the bus. The HX65HVD3080E–HX65HVD3088E series high-speed RS-485/RS-422 transceivers each include one driver and one receiver. All devices incorporate a failsafe circuit. A thermal shutdown circuit protects the driver from excessive power dissipation; upon thermal shutdown activation, the driver outputs are placed in a high-impedance state. The HX65HVD3080E–HX65HVD3085E receivers incorporate input filtering that improves noise rejection for differential signals with slow rise and fall times. The filter increases receiver propagation delay by 25%. As with other related devices from Mingxin, all pins incorporate ESD protection structures to safeguard the device against electrostatic discharge during operation and assembly. The driver outputs and receiver inputs of the HX65HVD3080E–HX65HVD3088E series feature additional ESD protection capability. Mingxin engineers have developed dedicated circuit structures to protect these pins, enabling them to withstand ±16kV ESD strikes per the IEC 61000-4-2 model. The ESD protection structures can withstand high ESD strikes under all conditions, including normal operating mode, shutdown mode, and power-off mode. When the receiver inputs are shorted or open, or when all drivers connected to a terminated transmission line are disabled, the HX65HVD3080E–HX65HVD3088E series guarantees a logic high at the receiver output. This is achieved by setting the receiver input thresholds to -0.50mV and -200mV respectively. If the differential receiver input voltage (A − B) is greater than or equal to −50mV, RO is logic high; if the voltage (A − B) is less than or equal to −200mV, RO is logic low. When all transmitters connected to a terminated bus are disabled, the differential receiver input voltage is pulled to 0V through the termination resistor. Based on the receiver thresholds of the HX65HVD3080E–HX65HVD3088E series, a logic high level is guaranteed with a minimum noise margin of 50mV. The −50mV to −200mV threshold voltage complies with the ±200mV EIA/TIA-4 specification.
