The INA240 is a voltage output, current-sense amplifier with enhanced PWM rejection, capable of sensing the voltage drop across a shunt resistor over a wide common-mode voltage range of –4V to 80V, independent of the supply voltage. The negative common-mode voltage allows the device to operate below ground, accommodating the flyback period of typical solenoid applications. The enhanced PWM rejection provides a high level of rejection for large common-mode transients (ΔV/Δt) in systems using PWM signals, such as motor drive and solenoid control systems. This feature enables accurate current measurement without introducing large transients or corresponding recovery ripple at the output voltage. The device operates from a single 2.7V to 5.5V supply and draws a maximum supply current of 2.4mA. Four fixed gains are available: 20V/V, 50V/V, 100V/V, and 200V/V. The low offset of the zero-drift architecture enables current sensing with a maximum full-scale shunt voltage drop as low as 10mV. All versions are rated for an extended operating temperature range of –40°C to +125°C and are available in 8-pin TSSOP and 8-pin SOIC packages.
