LP3965T-ADJ/HG

LP3965-XX is a high-current, high-accuracy, low-dropout voltage regulator. Fabricated using a process with PNP pass elements, these regulators feature a 350mV (full load) dropout voltage and extremely low ground current. These devices are also well-suited for low-current, tight-dropout applications where minimal dropout voltage and ground current are critical characteristics. LP3965-XX provides comprehensive protection against overcurrent faults, input polarity reversal, reverse pin insertion, thermal overload, and positive/negative transient voltage spikes. The five-pin fixed-voltage version features logic-level ON/OFF control and an error flag that signals when the output falls outside the regulation range. On the LP3965-XX and LP3965-ADJ, if ON/OFF control is not required, the EN (enable) pin can be connected to VIN. The LP3965 is available in 5-pin TO-220 and TO-263 packages. Output voltage (-XX) options: 1.5V, 1.8V, 2.5V, 2.8V, 3V, 3.3V, 5V, 8V, 9V, 12V. LP3965-XX is a high-performance LDO voltage regulator suited for all medium- to high-current voltage regulation applications. Its 350mV dropout voltage at full load makes it particularly valuable in battery-powered systems and enables use as a high-efficiency noise filter in post-regulator applications. Unlike older NPN pass transistor designs, the dropout performance of these devices' PNP output is limited only by the low VCE saturation voltage. The LP3965-XX series regulators provide complete protection against damage caused by fault conditions. Current limiting is provided and is linear in nature; output current under overload conditions is constant. Thermal shutdown disables the device when die temperature exceeds the 125°C maximum safe operating temperature. Transient protection allows the device to survive even when input voltage spikes between -20V and +30V. The overvoltage sensor temporarily disables the regulator when input voltage exceeds approximately 28V to 33V.
