Overview
The LP3980 is designed for portable RF and wireless applications where performance and space are at a premium. Its performance is optimized for battery-powered systems, delivering ultralow noise and low quiescent current. In dropout, the regulator's ground current increases only slightly, further extending battery life. The LP3980 also works with low-ESR ceramic capacitors, reducing board space required for power supply applications — a critical advantage in handheld wireless devices. In shutdown mode, current consumption is less than 0.01μA, with a fast startup time of less than 50μs. Additional features include ultralow dropout voltage, high output accuracy, current limiting protection, and high ripple rejection ratio.
