Overview
This is a driver IC designed specifically for small brushed DC motor control. It employs an H-bridge circuit architecture with integrated P-type and N-type MOSFET power switches, supporting four control modes: forward rotation, reverse rotation, braking, and standby. The IC features a wide operating voltage range of 2V to 7V. Under conditions of 27℃ ambient temperature and 6.5V supply voltage, it can deliver up to 1.8A continuous current and 2.5A peak current to the motor load. Due to the finite on-resistance of the internal MOSFETs, heat is generated when the IC supplies current to the load, causing junction temperature to rise. The junction temperature increase is closely related to the power transistor on-resistance, output current magnitude, ambient temperature, and PCB layout. An integrated over-temperature protection circuit continuously monitors for abnormal junction temperature. When the junction temperature exceeds 150℃ (typical), the internal circuitry shuts down the power transistors and halts output current; once the junction temperature drops back to the safe threshold of 130℃, the IC resumes normal operation and controls the power transistors according to the input signals. This over-temperature protection feature prevents damage from overheating while avoiding serious safety hazards such as smoking or ignition of package materials due to excessive temperatures. The IC is available in standard SOP-8L and SOT23-6L compact packages, making it an ideal choice for space-constrained system designs.
