Overview
The PCA9306 device is a dual-channel bidirectional I2C and SMBus voltage level translator with an enable (EN) input. It can operate within the range of 1.2V to 3.3V REF1 and 1.8V to 5.5V REF2. The PCA9306 device can achieve bidirectional voltage conversion between 1.2V and 5V without the need for a direction pin. This switch has a low on-state resistance (RON), enabling connections to be established with the shortest propagation delay. When EN is high, the translator switch turns on, and the SCL1 and SDA1 I/Os are connected to the SCL2 and SDA2 I/Os respectively, enabling bidirectional data flow between ports. When EN is low, the translator switch turns off, and there is a high-impedance state between the ports. In addition to voltage conversion, the PCA9306 device can also be used to isolate a 400kHz bus from a 100kHz bus by controlling the EN pin to disconnect the slower bus during fast-mode communication.
