RS164T is an 8-bit serial-in/parallel-out shift register. The device features two serial data inputs (A and B) and eight parallel data outputs (Q0 through Q7). Data is entered serially through A or B; either input can serve as an active-high enable for data entry through the other input. Data shifts on the low-to-high transition of the clock (CLK) input. When the master reset input (CLR̄) is low, the register is cleared and all outputs are forced low, regardless of other inputs. Inputs include clamping diodes, enabling the use of current-limiting resistors to connect inputs to voltages exceeding VCC.
