SN65HVD72/75/78E are +3.3V-powered RS-485/RS-422 transceivers with ±16kV ESD protection. These devices integrate a failsafe circuit that holds the receiver output at a logic-high level when the receiver inputs are open or shorted, or when all transmitters on the bus are disabled. All devices in the family support hot-plug capability, suppressing glitch transients on the bus during power-up or hot insertion. The SN65HVD72/75E feature a slew-rate-limited driver to reduce EMI and minimize signal reflections caused by improper cable termination, supporting error-free data transmission up to 500kbps; the SN65HVD78E has an unconstrained driver slew rate, enabling transmission rates up to 16Mbps. These devices are designed for half-duplex communication, with a receiver input impedance of 1/8 unit load, allowing up to 256 transceivers on a single bus. Available in DIP-8, SOP-8, MSOP-8, and DFN-8 packages, with a choice of commercial or industrial temperature ranges.
