Overview
The STP08CP05 is a monolithic, low-voltage, low-current 8-bit shift register designed for LED panel displays. It contains an 8-bit serial-input, parallel-output shift register capable of storing 8 bits of D-type data. In the output stage, eight regulated current sources are designed to provide constant currents of 5-100 mA for driving LEDs. The output current settling time of 5 μs (typical) enhances system performance. The STP08CP05 is backward compatible with the STP8C/L596 in both function and package. Via an external resistor, users can adjust the output current of the STP08CP05 to control LED brightness intensity from 0% to 100%. The STP08CP05 guarantees an output drive capability of 20 V, allowing users to connect multiple LEDs in series. The high clock frequency of 30 MHz also meets system demands for high-volume data transmission. The 3.3 V operating voltage is well-suited for applications interfacing with any 3.3 V microcontroller.
