The STPIC6D595 is a monolithic, medium-voltage, low-current power 8-bit shift register. The device contains an 8-bit serial-input, parallel-output shift register that feeds data to an 8-bit D-type storage register. Data is transferred via separate shift and storage register clocks (SRCK) and register clock (RCK). The device outputs data through the serial output (SER OUT) port on the rising edge of SRCK. When the shift register clear (CLR) is high, the storage register transfers data to the output buffer; when CLR is low, the input shift register is cleared. When output enable (G) is held high, all data in the output buffer is held low and all drain outputs are turned off; when G is held low, the storage register data is transparent to the output buffer. When data in the output buffer is low, the DMOS transistor outputs are turned off; when data is high, the DMOS transistor outputs are capable of sinking current. SER OUT allows cascading of shift register data to other devices. The outputs are low-side, open-drain DMOS transistors rated at 20V and 120mA continuous sink current capability. Each output provides a maximum current limit of 250mA at Tc=25℃. As junction temperature increases, the current limit decreases to provide additional device protection. The device also provides ESD protection up to 2.0kV when tested using the Human Body Model. The STPIC6D595 operates over a case temperature range of -40℃ to 125℃.
