The TJA1145A is a high-speed CAN transceiver that provides an interface between a CAN protocol controller and the physical two-wire CAN bus. Designed for high-speed CAN applications in the automotive industry, it offers differential transmit and receive capability for microcontrollers (with CAN protocol controllers). The TJA1145A features ultra-low power consumption in standby and sleep modes, and supports CAN partial networking compliant with ISO 11898-2:2016 via selective wake-up functionality. The FD variants TJA1145AT/FD and TJA1145ATK/FD incorporate a dedicated partial networking implementation known as "FD-passive," which enables CAN FD frames to be ignored while waiting for a valid wake-up frame in sleep/standby mode. This additional partial networking feature is suited for networks supporting both CAN FD and standard CAN 2.0 communication. It allows a conventional CAN controller that does not need to communicate CAN FD messages to remain in partial networking sleep/standby mode during CAN FD communication without generating bus errors. Advanced power management regulates the supply of the entire node and supports local and remote wake-up functionality. I/O levels automatically adapt to the controller's I/O levels, allowing the TJA1145A to connect directly to 3.3 V to 5 V microcontrollers. An SPI interface is provided for transceiver control and status information retrieval. The bus connections are truly floating when power is off. The TJA1145A implements the CAN physical layer as defined by ISO 11898-2:2016 and SAE J2284-1 through SAE J2284-5. The implementation enables reliable communication at data rates up to 5 Mbit/s in the CAN FD fast phase. These features make the TJA1145A suitable for high-speed CAN networks that are permanently connected to the battery supply line but activate nodes only when required by the application to minimize current consumption.
