The TPS7A37 series low-dropout (LDO) linear regulators use an N-channel metal-oxide-semiconductor (NMOS) pass element in a voltage-follower configuration. This topology offers relatively low sensitivity to output capacitor values and equivalent series resistance (ESR), enabling a wide range of load configurations. Load transient response is excellent, even when operating with a small 1μF ceramic output capacitor. The NMOS topology also enables ultra-low dropout voltage. The TPS7A37 series employs an advanced bipolar complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (BiCMOS) process to achieve high accuracy while delivering very low dropout voltage and low ground pin current. Current consumption in the disabled state is less than 20nA, making these devices well-suited for portable applications. The devices are protected by thermal shutdown and foldback current limiting.
