Overview

The TPS7A85 is a low-noise (4.4 μV_RMS), low-dropout (LDO) linear regulator with 4A source current capability and a maximum dropout voltage of only 240 mV. The output voltage can be pin-programmed from 0.8V to 3.95V or adjusted from 0.8V to 5.0V via an external resistor divider. The TPS7A85 combines low noise (4.4 μV_RMS), high PSRR, and high output current performance, making it well-suited for powering high-speed communications, video, medical, or test and measurement loads up to 1A. The high performance of the TPS7A85 limits phase noise and clock jitter generated by the power supply, making it ideal for powering high-performance SerDes, ADCs, DACs, and RF components. RF amplifiers in particular benefit from the device's high performance and 5.0V output capability. For digital loads requiring low-input, low-output (LILO) voltage operation — such as ASICs, FPGAs, and DSPs — the TPS7A85's excellent accuracy (0.75% over load and temperature range), remote sensing, superior transient performance, and soft-start functionality ensure optimal system performance. The versatility of the TPS7A85 makes it a compelling choice for many demanding applications.
