Overview
The 3842 is a high-performance fixed-frequency current-mode controller designed for off-line and DC-DC converter applications, offering designers a solution with minimal component count and low cost. This IC integrates an oscillator trimmed for precise duty cycle control, a temperature-compensated reference voltage, a high-gain error amplifier, a current-sensing comparator, and a high-current totem-pole output stage suitable for driving power MOSFETs. It also incorporates multiple protection features, including input undervoltage lockout (UVLO), cycle-by-cycle current limiting, programmable output dead time, and a latch for single-pulse metering.
