Overview
The WS3223E series are interface ICs powered by a 3V supply, compliant with EIA/TIA-232 and CCITT V.28/V.24 communication requirements and meeting low-power specifications. Each device integrates two drivers, two receivers, and a dedicated switched-capacitor voltage converter. Operating from a 3V to 3.6V supply, they guarantee a data rate of 250kbit/s. ESD protection on all RS-232 I/O pins exceeds ±15kV air discharge and ±8kV contact discharge per EN61000-4-2. The proprietary XPWRSAVE feature (patent pending) automatically shuts down the internal voltage converter and driver circuitry when the RS-232 cable is disconnected from the host interface or the connected peripheral is powered off.
