Overview
The DRV870xD-Q1 device is a small half-bridge gate driver that uses two external N-channel MOSFETs and is designed to drive unidirectional brushed DC motors or solenoid loads. It can be easily connected to the controller circuit through the PWM interface. The internal sense amplifier provides adjustable current control. The integrated charge pump provides 100% duty cycle support and can be used to drive an external reverse battery switch. The independent half-bridge mode supports half-bridge sharing, enabling sequential control of multiple DC motors in a cost-effective manner. This gate driver has built-in circuits that can regulate the winding current using PWM current chopping with a fixed off-time. The DRV870xD-Q1 device uses intelligent gate drive technology, eliminating the need for any external gate components (resistors and Zener diodes) and providing protection for external FETs. The intelligent gate drive architecture optimizes the dead time to avoid any shoot-through issues, offers flexibility in reducing electromagnetic interference (EMI) through programmable slew rate control technology, and prevents any gate short-circuit problems. In addition, this architecture also includes active and passive pull-down features to prevent any dv/dt gate turn-on.
