Overview
HE4064E is a complete single-cell lithium-ion battery constant-current/constant-voltage linear charger with 30V input voltage tolerance and over-voltage protection (OVP), employing constant-current/constant-voltage linear control. Its SOT and DFN packages with minimal external component count make the HE4064E an ideal choice for portable applications. The HE4064E is compatible with both USB power and adapter power sources. The internal P-MOSFET architecture combined with reverse-charge protection circuitry eliminates the need for external sense resistors and isolation diodes. Thermal feedback automatically regulates the charge current to limit die temperature under high-power operation or elevated ambient temperature conditions. The full charge voltage is fixed at 4.2V, while the charge current can be externally set via a single resistor. When the battery reaches 4.2V and the charge current drops to 2C/10 of the programmed value, the HE4064E automatically terminates charging. When the input voltage (AC adapter or USB power) is removed, the HE4064E automatically enters a low-current state with battery leakage current below 1µA. Additional features of the HE4064E include under-voltage lockout, automatic recharge, and a status pin for indicating input voltage presence and charge termination. The HE4064E features two open-drain charge status output pins.
