Overview
LR5106A is a highly integrated, cost-effective single-cell lithium-ion battery charger IC. It employs constant-current/constant-voltage linear control with minimal external components, making it ideal for portable applications and compatible with both USB power and adapter power sources. The LR5106A features an internal PMOSFET architecture with reverse-charge protection, eliminating the need for external sense resistors and isolation diodes. Thermal feedback automatically adjusts the charge current to limit die temperature under high-power or high-temperature conditions. The full-charge voltage is fixed at 4.2V. Charge current is programmable via an external resistor on the PROG pin, up to 0.6A. When the input voltage is removed, the LR5106A automatically enters a low-current state with battery leakage current below 3uA. Additional features include charge current monitoring, input overvoltage protection, undervoltage lockout, automatic recharge, and two status pins for indicating charge status and input voltage presence.
