Overview
The NE555 is a general-purpose timer circuit — an analog IC that combines analog signal processing with logic functions, capable of generating precise time delays and oscillations. This timer circuit finds applications in electronic control, electronic detection, and electronic alarm systems. For example, it can be configured as a precision timer, pulse generator, time-delay generator, PWM modulator, phase modulator, or sawtooth wave voltage generator. In microcomputer peripheral applications, it can serve as a clock generator to produce the required clock pulses. The device is available in SOP8 or DIP8 packages.
