Overview
The nPM2100 PMIC is designed for primary (non-rechargeable) battery applications in an extremely compact form factor. It integrates an ultra-high-efficiency boost regulator along with a range of power-saving features, all aimed at maximizing the operating time of non-rechargeable battery applications. The nPM2100 provides power regulation for low-power MCU and SoC devices, such as Nordic Semiconductor's nRF52, nRF53, and nRF54L series advanced wireless multi-protocol SoCs. Its internal boost regulator quiescent current is only 150 nA, making it one of the most efficient boost regulators available. A 35 nA ship mode allows devices to be shipped with batteries installed without draining them. Timed wake-up in hibernate mode supports applications that spend most of their time in deep sleep, reducing sleep current to 175 nA and extending battery life by nearly three times. The device is designed to provide highly efficient power regulation for any primary battery application, with excellent software support in the nRF Connect SDK. The nPM2100 is also suitable for use with other host devices. It supports algorithm-based accurate fuel gauging. Standard voltage-based estimation is often inaccurate, leading to replacement of batteries that still have charge or unexpected shutdowns. Instead, the nPM2100 uses a voltage- and temperature-based fuel gauge running on the host microprocessor for more accurate readings, ensuring maximum battery utilization with minimal additional load.
