Overview
The OPA172, OPA2172, and OPA4172 (OPAx172) belong to a family of 36V, single-supply, low-noise operational amplifiers that can operate from +4.5V (±2.25V) to +36V. These CMOS operational amplifiers, when paired with the OPAx171 and OPAx170, offer users a wide range of bandwidth, noise, and power options to meet the needs of various applications. The OPAx172 comes in a miniature package and provides low offset, drift, and quiescent current. These devices also offer wide bandwidth, fast slew rate, and high output current drive capability. The single-channel, dual-channel, and quad-channel versions all have the same technical specifications to maximize design flexibility. Unlike most operational amplifiers that are rated to operate at only one supply voltage, the OPAx172 family is rated to operate over a voltage range of +4.5V to +36V. Input signals that exceed the supply rails do not cause phase reversal. The inputs can operate normally 100mV below the negative supply rail and within 2V of the positive supply rail. Note that these devices can operate with full rail-to-rail inputs up to 100mV above the positive supply rail, but performance is affected when operating within 2V of the positive supply rail. The OPAx172 family of operational amplifiers is rated for an operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
