The SN74AVCH8T245 is an 8-bit non-inverting bus transceiver with two separately configurable power-supply rails. The A port tracks VCCA, which can support any supply voltage ranging from 1.2V to 3.6V. The B port tracks VCCB, which can also support any supply voltage ranging from 1.2V to 3.6V. This enables universal low-voltage bidirectional translation between 1.2V, 1.5V, 1.8V, 2.5V, and 3.3V voltage nodes. The SN74AVCH8T245 is designed for asynchronous communication between data buses. Depending on the logic level on the direction control (DIR) input, the device transmits data from the A bus to the B bus, or from the B bus to the A bus. The output enable (OE) can be used to disable the outputs, effectively isolating the buses. The control pins (DIR and OE) of the SN74AVCH8T245 are referenced to VCCA. The active bus-hold circuitry holds unused or undriven inputs at a valid logic state. The use of pullup or pulldown resistors with the bus-hold circuitry is not recommended. This device fully meets the specifications for partial power-down applications using Ioff. The Ioff circuitry disables the outputs, preventing damaging current backflow through the device. The VCC isolation feature ensures that when either VCCA or VCCB is grounded (GND), the outputs are in a high-impedance state. The bus-hold circuitry on the powered side remains active at all times. This SN74AVCH8T245 solution is compatible with single-supply systems and can subsequently be replaced with 245 functionality, requiring only minimal PCB redesign. To place the device in a high-impedance state during power-up or power-down, OE must be connected to VCCA through a pullup resistor; the minimum value of this resistor is determined by the current-sinking capability of the driver.
