Overview
TP4056 is a complete single-cell lithium-ion battery charger with constant-current/constant-voltage linear charging. The ESOP8 package with an exposed thermal pad on the bottom, combined with a minimal number of external components, makes the TP4056 an ideal choice for portable applications. The TP4056 is compatible with both USB power supplies and adapter power sources. Due to the internal PMOSFET architecture and built-in reverse charge protection circuit, no external isolation diode is required. Thermal feedback automatically adjusts the charge current to limit the die temperature during high-power operation or elevated ambient temperature conditions. The full-charge voltage is 4.2V, and the charge current can be externally set via a single resistor. When the charge current drops to 1/10 of the programmed value after the final float voltage is reached, the TP4056 automatically terminates the charge cycle. When the input voltage (AC adapter or USB power supply) is removed, the TP4056 automatically enters a low-current state, reducing battery leakage current to below 3uA. The TP4056 can also be placed in shutdown mode while power is present, reducing supply current to 100uA. Additional features of the TP4056 include battery temperature monitoring, undervoltage lockout, automatic recharge, and two LED status pins for indicating charge and charge-complete states.
