The TPC5120/TPC5121 series contains a capacitor-based SAR ADC with a built-in sample-and-hold function. The TPC5120 has 16 single-ended input channels, and the TPC5121 has 8 single-ended input channels. The device accepts a wide analog supply range of 2.7V to 5.25V. Its ultra-low power consumption makes it suitable for battery-powered and isolated supply applications. A wide I/O supply range of 1.7V to 5.25V enables seamless interfacing with the most commonly used digital hosts. The serial interface is controlled by CS and SCLK, facilitating connection to microprocessors and DSPs. The input signal is sampled on the falling edge of CS. It uses SCLK for conversion, serial data output, and reading serial data input. The device allows automatic sequencing of pre-selected channels or manual selection of the channel for the next conversion cycle. It offers two software-selectable input ranges (0V to VREF and 0V to 2×VREF), individually configurable GPIOs (four for TSSOP package devices and one for VQFN package devices), and two programmable alarm thresholds per channel. These features make it suitable for most data acquisition applications. The device also features a shutdown function, which is extremely useful for saving power when the device operates at lower conversion speeds.
