Overview
The TX5817 is a wide-voltage-input charge management IC designed specifically for dual-cell lithium battery charging, compatible with 5V and 9V adapters. The internal switching frequency can reach 1.1MHz, and the charging current can be set via an external resistor connected from the ISET pin to ground. It also features overvoltage shutdown, over-temperature shutdown, and input power protection. The IC supports both 5V and 9V adapter charging, automatically detecting whether the inserted adapter is 5V or 9V. When a 5V charger is detected, it operates in switching boost charging mode, supporting a maximum battery-side charging current of 1.5A; when a 9V charger is detected, it operates in linear buck charging mode, supporting a maximum battery-side charging current of 1A. The IC can adaptively adjust the charging current according to the adapter's current supply capability, preventing adapter overload while maximizing the adapter's current output capacity. It is suitable for various DC devices and standard USB charging equipment. A complete CC/CV charging profile is implemented: when the lithium battery voltage is below 5.8V, the system charges the battery in trickle mode; when the voltage exceeds 6V but remains below 8.2V, constant-current charging is applied; when the voltage is above 8.2V but below 8.4V, constant-voltage charging mode is engaged; charging terminates when the charging current drops below 50mA.
