Overview
XT2052 is a charger IC that provides constant-current/constant-voltage charging for single-cell rechargeable lithium batteries. The device integrates a power transistor internally, eliminating the need for external current-sense resistors and blocking diodes. XT2052 requires minimal external components and complies with the USB bus specification, making it ideal for portable applications. A thermal regulation circuit maintains the chip temperature within a safe range when the device dissipates high power or operates in elevated ambient temperatures. The internal constant-voltage charge regulation is fixed at 4.2V, and the charge current is set via an external resistor. When the input voltage (AC adapter or USB power supply) is removed, XT2052 automatically enters a low-power sleep mode in which battery current consumption drops below 0.1μA. An integrated reverse-current protection circuit automatically turns off the internal power MOSFET when the battery voltage exceeds the input voltage. Additional features include input undervoltage lockout, automatic recharge, built-in OVP protection, and charge status/charge termination status indication. XT2052 is available in a thermally enhanced 8-pin small-outline package, eSOP-8 or eMSOP-8.
