XTB1058 is a cost-effective, highly integrated single-cell Li-Ion or Li-Polymer battery linear charger. The device supports constant-current/constant-voltage charging via USB port or AC adapter. Low BOM component requirements keep the overall system compact. The charger accepts input voltages up to 28V, but will be disabled when the input voltage exceeds the OVP threshold. The 28V voltage rating eliminates the overvoltage protection circuitry required by lower input voltage chargers. Charge current and end-of-charge current are programmable via external resistors. When the battery voltage falls below a typical value of 2.6V, the charger pre-charges the battery at a typical 20% of the programmed charge current. The XTB1058 implements two indicator pins, PPR and CHG, allowing connection to a microcontroller or LED to display device status. Using an open-drain configuration, the PPR pin is held low when the input voltage is within the operating range, and the CHG pin is held low during charging; otherwise the pins are in a high-impedance state. The XTB1058 features thermal foldback to limit charge current and protect the device from over-junction-temperature faults. It also integrates current monitoring, UVLO, and OVP functions to prevent device damage.
