Overview
BRCL4058ESE is a highly integrated, cost-effective single-cell lithium-ion battery charger in an ESOP-8 package. It employs constant-current/constant-voltage linear control with a minimal number of external components, making it an ideal choice for portable applications. It is also compatible with both USB power supplies and AC adapter power sources. The BRCL4058ESE incorporates an internal PMOSFET architecture along with a reverse-charge protection circuit, eliminating the need for external sense resistors and isolation diodes. Thermal feedback automatically adjusts the charge current to limit the die temperature during high-power operation or elevated ambient temperature conditions. The final charge voltage is fixed at 4.2V. The charge current can be programmed via an external resistor connected to the PROG pin, with a maximum of 1.2A. When the input voltage (AC adapter or USB power supply) is removed, the BRCL4058ESE automatically enters a low-current state, with battery leakage current below 3uA. Additional features of the BRCL4058ESE include a charge current monitor, input overvoltage protection, undervoltage lockout, automatic recharge, and two status pins for indicating end-of-charge and input voltage presence.
