Overview
The MAX3232 interface IC integrates two drivers, two receivers, and a dual charge pump circuit, with serial port pins protected by ±15kV IEC ESD. The device complies with TIA/EIA-232-F and provides an electrical interface between asynchronous communication controllers and serial port connectors. Its internal charge pump, combined with four small external capacitors, supports single-supply operation from 3V to 5.5V. The MAX3232 supports data rates up to 500kbit/s with a driver output slew rate of up to 30V/μs.
