Overview
The TP4057 is a high-performance single-cell lithium-ion battery constant-current/constant-voltage linear charger. Packaged in SOT23-6 with minimal external components, it is suitable for portable products and ideal for powering USB and adapter power supplies. Based on a specialized internal MOSFET architecture and reverse-charge protection circuit, no external sense resistors or isolation diodes are required. When the ambient temperature is too high or in high-power applications, thermal feedback adjusts the charging current to reduce the chip temperature. The charge voltage is fixed at 4.24V, while the charge current can be set externally via a single resistor. When the charge current drops to 1/10 of the programmed value after reaching the final float voltage, the chip terminates the charge cycle. When the input voltage is disconnected, the TP4057 enters sleep mode, reducing the battery leakage current to below 1uA. The TP4057 can be placed in shutdown mode, in which the quiescent current drops to 25uA. Additional features include: undervoltage lockout, automatic recharge, and two status pins to indicate charging and charge termination.
