In automotive battery-connected applications, low quiescent current (IQ) is critical for power savings and extended battery life. For always-on systems, ultra-low IQ is essential. The TPS7B82-Q1 is a low-dropout linear regulator designed to operate over a wide input voltage range of 3V to 40V (45V load dump protection). With an operating voltage as low as 3V, the TPS7B82-Q1 continues to function during cold crank as well as start-stop conditions. The device features a typical quiescent current of only 2.7μA at light load, making it an ideal solution for powering MCUs and CAN/LIN transceivers in standby systems. These devices feature integrated short-circuit and overcurrent protection. The device operates over an ambient temperature range of -40°C to +125°C, with a junction temperature range of -40°C to +150°C. In addition, the device employs a thermally conductive package, enabling sustained operation even under high thermal dissipation conditions. Due to these characteristics, the device is designed to serve as a power supply for a wide range of automotive applications.
