XT4054 is a complete single-cell lithium-ion battery constant-current/constant-voltage linear power management IC. Its slim profile and compact package make it ideal for portable applications. Notably, the XT4054 is specifically designed to comply with USB power supply specifications. Thanks to the internal MOSFET architecture, no external sense resistor or blocking diode is required. During high power operation and elevated ambient temperatures, thermal feedback automatically reduces the charge current to limit die temperature. The charge voltage is fixed at 4.2V, and the charge current is programmable via an external resistor. When the target charge voltage is reached and the charge current drops to 1/10 of the programmed value, the XT4054 automatically terminates the charge cycle. When the input source (plug or USB) is removed, the XT4054 automatically enters a low-current state, reducing battery leakage current to below 2μA. The XT4054 can also be placed in a shutdown mode, reducing supply current to 25μA. The XT4054 employs a unique internal patented architecture that automatically engages protection when the battery is connected in reverse polarity, preventing IC breakdown and avoiding battery self-discharge incidents. This architecture also ensures the XT4054 achieves an ESD rating of 7KV (HBM). Additional features include: charge current monitoring, input undervoltage lockout, automatic recharge, and charge status indicators for charge complete and charge in progress.
