Overview
4056V is a single-cell lithium battery charger IC featuring input overvoltage protection (OVP), input power supply 5V positive/negative polarity reversal protection, and battery positive/negative polarity reversal protection. Its optimized fast constant high-current/fast constant-voltage charging mode enables faster charging speeds. The ESOP8/DFN2×2-8 package with a bottom heat sink pad, combined with a minimal external component count, makes the 4056V an ideal choice for portable applications. The 4056V is compatible with USB power supplies, adapter power supplies, and solar cell power sources. Featuring a built-in PMOSFET architecture with an anti-reverse charging circuit, no external isolation diode is required. Thermal feedback adaptively regulates the charging current to limit die temperature during high-power operation or elevated ambient temperature conditions. The charge current is externally programmable via a single resistor. When the charge current drops to 1/10 of the set value after reaching the final float voltage, the 4056V automatically terminates the charge cycle. When the input voltage is removed, the 4056V automatically enters a low-current state, reducing battery leakage current to below 0.2uA. Additional features of the 4056V include power supply adaptive tracking, battery temperature monitoring, input undervoltage lockout, automatic recharge, and two LED status pins indicating charging and charge completion.
