CN3163

CN3163 is a single-cell lithium battery charge management IC that can be powered by a solar panel. The device integrates an internal power transistor, eliminating the need for external current sense resistors and blocking diodes. The internal adaptive charge current module automatically adjusts the charge current based on the current output capability of the input power supply, so users do not need to consider worst-case scenarios. This maximizes utilization of the input power supply's current output capability, making it ideal for lithium battery charging applications powered by current-limited sources such as solar panels. CN3163 requires minimal external components, making it well suited for portable applications. The thermal regulation circuit keeps the chip temperature within a safe range when the device dissipates significant power or operates in high ambient temperatures. The internal fixed constant-voltage charge voltage is 4.2V, and can be adjusted upward via an external resistor. The charge current is set by an external resistor. When the input voltage is removed, CN3163 automatically enters a low-power sleep mode, during which the battery current consumption is less than 3μA. Additional features include input undervoltage lockout, automatic recharge, battery temperature monitoring, and charge status/charge complete status indication. CN3163 is available in a thermally enhanced 8-pin small outline package (eSOP8).
