Overview
The MAX3485ESA is a high-speed transceiver for RS-485 and RS-422 communication systems, integrating one driver and one receiver to support data rates up to 10Mbps. The device operates in half-duplex mode with dedicated driver enable and receiver enable control pins. The driver features a controlled slew rate to minimize EMI and reflections caused by improper cable termination. The receiver is designed with 1/8 unit load input impedance, allowing up to 128 loads on the bus, and incorporates input hysteresis and filtering to improve noise rejection for slowly rising and falling differential signals, at the cost of a 25% increase in propagation delay. The device provides A and B pin short-circuit protection and is offered in an SOP8 package.
