Overview
The ST3485BDR is a high-speed transceiver for RS-485 and RS-422 communication systems, integrating one driver and one receiver with a data rate of up to 10Mbps. The device operates in half-duplex mode with dedicated driver enable and receiver enable control pins. The receiver features 1/8 unit load input impedance, allowing up to 128 loads on the bus. A slew-rate-limited driver helps reduce EMI and reflections caused by improper cable termination. Additionally, the receiver incorporates input hysteresis and input filtering to improve noise rejection on slow-rising and slow-falling differential signals, at the cost of a 25% increase in propagation delay. The device provides ESD protection; however, additional protection components are recommended for hot-swap applications.
