Overview
TP4055-MS is a complete single-cell lithium-ion battery charger featuring battery polarity reversal protection and 5V input power polarity reversal protection. Its SOT23-5 package and minimal external component count make the TP4055-MS an ideal choice for portable applications. The internal PMOSFET architecture, combined with an anti-backflow charging circuit, eliminates the need for external sense resistors and isolation diodes. Thermal feedback automatically regulates the charge current to limit die temperature during high-power operation or elevated ambient temperature conditions. The charge voltage is fixed at 4.2V, and the charge current is set externally via a single resistor. When the battery reaches 4.2V, the charge current drops to 1/10 of the programmed value and the TP4055-MS automatically terminates charging. When the input voltage (AC adapter or USB power supply) is removed, the TP4055-MS automatically enters a low-current state with battery leakage current below 0.1µA. Additional features of the TP4055-MS include input power adaptation, charge current monitoring, undervoltage lockout, automatic recharge, and a status pin for charge indication.
