Overview
The MAX232 interface chip consists of two-channel drivers, two-channel receivers, and a dual charge pump circuit, with ±15kV IEC ESD protection on the serial port. The MAX232 complies with TIA/EIA-232-F requirements, providing electrical interface functionality between asynchronous communication controllers and serial port connectors. The on-chip charge pump and four external small capacitors support single-supply operation from 3V to 5.5V. The MAX232 supports data signal transmission rates up to 500kbits, with driver output slew rates up to 30V/μs.
