Overview
The MAX3232 interface IC contains two drivers, two receivers, and a dual charge pump circuit. The serial port features ±15kV IEC61000-4-2 ESD protection. The MAX3232 complies with TIA/EIA-232-F, providing an electrical interface between asynchronous communication controllers and serial port connectors. An on-chip charge pump and four small external capacitors support single-supply operation from 3V to 5.5V. The MAX3232 supports data signaling rates up to 500kbit/s, with a driver output slew rate of up to 30V/μs. The output ports are protected against short circuits to ground.
