Overview
TC4059 is a high-voltage input, single-cell lithium-ion battery linear charger controller IC with OVP. The VCC pin supports up to 36V input with built-in OVP: when the input voltage exceeds 7V (typical) during charging, the OVP function activates and halts charging, effectively protecting the IC from damage caused by excessive input voltage or high-voltage spikes at the moment a charger is connected. TC4059 automatically adjusts the charging current to limit die temperature. The termination voltage is fixed at 4.2V, and the charging current is programmable via an external resistor, with a maximum charging current of 1A. When the float voltage is reached and the charging current drops to 1/10 of the set current, TC4059 automatically terminates the charging process. When the input voltage is removed, TC4059 automatically enters a low-current mode, drawing only 30nA from the battery. TC4059 features battery temperature sensing (ESOP-8 and DFN-8 packages), EN enable function (ESOP-8 and DFN-8 packages), input undervoltage lockout, input OVP, reverse battery protection, and thermal regulation. It also supports charge current monitoring, voltage detection, and automatic recharge, with two indicator pins for charge status and charge termination status respectively.
